My new favorite takeout!

Oh my goodness, I just had the Hibachi Chicken Bowl and it was amazing! The chicken was so tender, and the Zucchini and Onions side was perfectly cooked. And that Yum Yum sauce – I could drink it! I also grabbed some Spring Rolls and they were crispy and delicious. The whole order was ready super fast for pickup too. I'm telling all my friends about this place, I'm definitely going back next week!

Decent value for a quick meal

I was looking for something affordable for lunch and saw Genji To Go. I got the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl. It was a good portion for the price, especially since I signed up for their rewards program and got a small discount. The chicken was fine, and the teriyaki sauce was savory. It's not a gourmet meal, but for what I paid, it felt like a solid deal. I'd consider ordering again if I needed a quick, budget-friendly option.

Always reliable for lunch

I've ordered from Genji To Go several times now, and they're always consistent. My Hibachi Steak and Chicken Combo was just as good as the last one I had a few weeks ago. The meat was cooked right, and the Yum Yum sauce is still perfect. It's why I keep coming back, honestly. Never had a bad experience.

Solid dinner option

Picked up a Hibachi Steak Bowl for dinner last night. It was pretty good. Steak was cooked how I like it. Grabbed an Iced Tea too. Easy to order online, and it was ready when they said it would be. No complaints, just a simple, good meal.

Good food, minor wait

I tried the Hibachi Shrimp Bowl this time. The shrimp were fresh and cooked well, and the fried rice was tasty. Their Yum Yum sauce is definitely a highlight. My order was ready for pickup in about 15 minutes, which is reasonable, but it felt a little longer than usual during a slower hour. Everything else, from ordering online to the portion size, was pretty good for the price.

Does Genji To Go use MSG in their food? Trying to avoid it if possible.

J Julia 3 weeks ago
I've heard they don't, especially for the hibachi. They try to keep it fresh. You can always ask at the counter if you're really concerned.

I don't think so. It's a pretty clean flavor compared to some other places. I haven't had any issues after eating there, which I usually do with MSG.

do they have good vegetarian options besides just the plain veggie bowl? like, anything with tofu or a meat substitute?

N Neil T. 1 month ago
Yep, they have a Hibachi Tofu Bowl! It's pretty good, comes with the zucchini and onions and rice. I usually add extra veggies.

The tofu bowl is solid. You can also get sides like edamame or spring rolls if you want more variety.

How quick is the pickup usually? I'm on a tight lunch break in downtown Chicago.

A Andre 1 month ago
Super fast in my experience. I order on the app and it's usually ready by the time I get there, like 10-15 mins.

It can depend on the location and how busy they are, but generally pretty speedy. I'd say give yourself at least 20 mins just to be safe though.

Can I use more than one coupon at a time? Like if I have a birthday reward and a general discount code?

L Laura 3 weeks ago
Nah, usually it's just one coupon per order, from what I've seen. Most places are like that.

N Nick K. 3 weeks ago
I tried that once and it only let me use one. You probably have to pick which one gives you the best deal.

Hey, I'm thinking about getting the Hibachi Steak and Shrimp Combo. Does anyone know if they go easy on the sauce, or can I ask for it on the side?

A Alex W. 3 weeks ago
Yeah, you can totally ask for it on the side. I do it all the time with the Yum Yum sauce for the kids.

They're usually pretty good about customizing. Just mention it when you order, whether it's in person or through the app.

I got a coupon code in my email but can't figure out where to put it in the app. Anyone know?

S Shane Kim 3 weeks ago
It's usually at checkout, right before you confirm your order. Look for a field that says 'promo code' or 'coupon code'.

A Amber E. 2 weeks ago
Yeah, just tap on your cart to go to checkout, and you'll see a spot to enter it there. Make sure it applies before you pay!

Is Genji To Go pretty similar to Sarku Japan? Trying to decide which one to hit up for dinner tonight.

P Paula C. 4 weeks ago
I'd say it's way better than Sarku. Fresher ingredients and the portions feel more generous. Plus, that Yum Yum sauce is unmatched.

L Lisa 4 weeks ago
They're both fast casual hibachi, but Genjigo feels a bit more like a proper meal, if that makes sense. Sarku is fine in a pinch, but Genjigo is my go-to.

Thinking of trying GENJIGO for the first time. Are there any discounts for new customers, or like, an app signup bonus?

N Neil G. 1 month ago
Definitely sign up for their rewards program! I got a free side or something just for joining. Worth it.

They often have a first order discount through the app or email if you subscribe. Keep an eye out.
